Data Not Collected

AmiNation doesn’t collect any personal data. It has no accounts or sign-up, shows no ads and uses no analytics or tracking tools. Your games, your Kickstarts and your saved games stay on your devices, and move between them over your home network only when you send them.

  • No accounts
  • No ads
  • No tracking

Who is responsible

AmiNation is an app by NV Group, which operates through the companies below:

  • NV Group SRL — Argentina. Address: Av. San Martín 1320, piso 3, depto. 13, (1416) CABA.
  • NV Group SAS — Uruguay. Address: Av. Luis Alberto de Herrera 1248, (11300) Montevideo.

What data the app collects

None. The app doesn’t ask for your name, email, phone number or any other information, and it doesn’t know who uses it.

Your games and your files

The disks, Kickstarts, Workbenches, hard drives and saved games you add stay in the app’s folder on each device. The app doesn’t upload them to the internet or to servers of NV Group or anyone else, and it doesn’t keep a history of what you play.

  • On the Mac, in the app’s folder. The app only opens the files you choose or drop on its window, and saves your screenshots to your Pictures folder.
  • On iPhone and iPad, in the app’s storage, excluded from iCloud Backup.
  • On Apple TV, in the app’s storage. If the Apple TV runs low on space, tvOS can free up that space: keep your originals on your Mac or another device.
  • On TVs with Google TV, in the app’s storage, with no copy in Google’s cloud.

If you delete the app, everything you saved in it is deleted.

Between your devices

From the Mac you can send your games, your Kickstarts and your Workbench to AmiNation on your iPhone, iPad, Apple TV or TVs with Google TV. To find each other, the devices announce their names on your home network (via Bonjour), and the files go straight from one to the other, without going through the internet. To send, type the four-digit code shown on the receiving device into the Mac.

While you use AmiNation on Apple TV or Google TV, the TV serves a page on your home network so you can send it files from the web browser of a computer, phone or tablet. The TV shows the address and a four-digit code, which you need to enter to send anything. That page goes straight over your network, without going through the internet, and, like the pages of most home devices, it isn’t encrypted: use it on a network you trust.

What uses the internet (only on the Mac)

  • “More Games”: the Mac asks nvgroup.com.ar for the suggestions it shows, without sending any data about you or your device. Like any internet server, the hosting provider logs technical connection data (such as the IP address and the time) for a limited time, for security. NV Group doesn’t use it to identify you or for anything else.
  • Links to other sites (such as aminet.net or itch.io) open in your web browser. The app doesn’t pass them any of your data.

On iPhone, iPad, Apple TV and Google TV, the app doesn’t use the internet: only your home network.

What’s stored on your device

So you don’t have to set everything up each time, the app saves on each device the settings of each Amiga (memory, drives and system) and its own settings. On the Mac, also the permission to reopen the disks you chose outside the app’s folder. All of that stays only on your device, nobody else sees it, and it’s deleted if you delete the app.

The permissions it asks for, and why

  • Local network (on Mac, iPhone, iPad and Apple TV): to find your devices and send or receive your games over your home network.
  • Files (on the Mac): the app only opens the files you choose or drop on its window. On iPhone and iPad you choose them in Files, and the app receives only those.
  • Pictures (on the Mac): to save your screenshots to your Pictures folder.
  • On Google TV, the app asks for no special permissions: it uses the network only inside your home.

You can remove the local network permission at any time, in Settings on iPhone, iPad and Apple TV, or in System Settings on the Mac. The app keeps working, but it can’t send or receive over the network.

Changes to this policy

If a future version of the app ever uses any data, we’ll explain it on this page before releasing it, with the date of the change, and also on the app’s pages in the App Store and on Google Play.
